Background: While structured compassion training programs have shown promise for increasing compassion among medical trainees, a major challenge is applying the concepts and practices taught during the program into the complex, dynamic, time-pressured, and often hectic hospital workplace.

Objective: The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of Compassion Coach, a mobile health (mHealth) smartphone app designed to bolster a 6-week mindfulness and self-compassion training program for medical trainees.

Methods: In Compassion Coach, notifications to remind, encourage, and measure the perceived impact of informal mindfulness and compassion practices taught during the program were delivered at 7 AM, 12 PM, and 7 PM, respectively, 3 times per week over the course of the training program.

Background: Diabetes distress (DD) is a prevalent concern among people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and is linked to poor clinical outcomes. Instead of targeting the elimination of DD, we propose a novel approach that empowers individuals with strategies to manage their diabetes effectively in the context of DD: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The purpose of this in-progress trial is to compare an ACT group intervention (ACT1VATE) with usual care in improving HbA1c, DD, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness in adults with T1D.

Research suggests that partners may have poorer physical health outcomes than the general population, but little research has examined the physiological biomarkers by which distress may impact partner health outcomes. Objective: This cluster (clinic-level) randomized controlled trial (RCT) compared medical assistant (MA) health coaching (MAC) with usual care (UC) among at-risk adults with type 2 diabetes in two diverse real-world primary care environments: a federally qualified health center (FQHC; Neighborhood Healthcare) and a large nonprofit private insurance-based health system (Scripps Health).

Research Design And Methods: A total of 600 adults with type 2 diabetes who met one or more of the following criteria in the last 90 days were enrolled: HbA1c ≥8% and/or LDL cholesterol ≥100 mg/dL and/or systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥140 mmHg. Background: Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) use in adults with type 1 diabetes offers psychosocial and clinical benefits, but little is known about its impact on such outcomes in the type 2 diabetes (T2D) population. To address this gap, we conducted a quasi-experimental prospective study to assess psychosocial, glycemic, and behavioral changes over six months in T2D adults on multiple daily injections (MDI) who were interested in starting Omnipod DASH, comparing those who did versus did not start on it.

To explore whether regularly reviewing one's own retrospective continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data might be linked with perceived quality of life (QoL) and glycemic benefits. Adults with type 1 diabetes ( = 300) or insulin-using type 2 diabetes ( = 198) using the Dexcom G5 Mobile or G6 Real-Time CGM (RT-CGM) system and receiving the weekly CLARITY summary report of their glucose data completed a survey exploring their use of the report and its perceived value and impact on QoL and glycemic outcomes. Forecasting diabetes progression can inform disease management strategies, thereby potentially reducing the likelihood or severity of its consequences. Objective: Fatigue is a prevalent and long-lasting symptom among patients with cancer that is known to be worsened by patients' catastrophizing thoughts about their fatigue. Spouses are also burdened by patient fatigue, which may lead them to catastrophize as well. Based on the dyadic coping literature, this study hypothesized that patient and spouse catastrophizing translate into worse fatigue through co-rumination-couples' communications dwelling on the negative aspects of fatigue (H1).
