This interventional case series presents a novel surgical procedure involving double interlacing for the correction of esotropia in individuals with sixth cranial nerve palsy. The technique involves first splitting the tendons of the superior rectus, inferior rectus, and lateral rectus muscles. Subsequently, the superior half of the lateral rectus muscle is passed through the undisinserted superior rectus muscle, and the inferior half of the lateral rectus muscle is passed through the undisinserted inferior rectus muscle.

Purpose: Assess prevalence and causes of vision impairment among low-middle income school children in São Paulo.

Methods: Cluster sampling was used to obtain a random sample of children ages 11 to 14 years from public schools (grades 5-8) in three districts from June to November 2005. The examination included visual acuity testing, ocular motility, and examination of the external eye, anterior segment, and media.

Purpose: To evaluate refractional astigmatism prevalence and its relationship with grating acuity in a cohort of non-verbal children.

Methods: 482 normal children, aged from 2 to 36 months, were submitted to ophthalmological examination. Fourteen subjects were excluded due to ocular disease and the sample remained with 468 subjects (936 eyes); 230 (49%) males e 238 (51%) females.
