Prolonged Umbilical Port Insertion Time Increases the Incidence of Umbilical Surgical Site Infection in Laparoscopic Percutaneous Extraperitoneal Closure for Inguinal Hernia in Children.

Umbilical surgical site infection (U-SSI) is the most common complication of laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure (LPEC) for the treatment of inguinal hernia in children. Prolonged operative time is known to increase the risk of SSI in general pediatric surgery; however, the association between prolonged operative time and post-LPEC U-SSI is unclear. The present study aimed to elucidate the association between umbilical port insertion time and the incidence of U-SSI.

Purpose: Congenital tracheal stenosis (CTS) has been reported to occur in 50-65% of cases of left pulmonary artery sling (LPAS), but the exact incidence rate is unknown.
