- A new needle-type device was created to efficiently prepare and analyze very volatile organic compounds (VVOCs) in gas samples using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
- The device utilized two types of activated carbon sorbents and demonstrated effective extraction and desorption of various VVOCs, such as acetaldehyde and ethanol.
- It was found that sample humidity affected only one type of sorbent, while the double-bed extraction needle remained unaffected, leading to successful analysis of VVOCs from healthy subjects' breath.
