Novel Post-Neurointensive Care Recovery Clinic: Design, Utilization, and Clinician Perspectives.

Background And Objectives: Despite increasing interest in post-intensive care unit (ICU) clinical care and management, there have been limited descriptions focused on the post-neurologic (neuro)-ICU population. Here, we describe the design of a post-neuro-ICU Neurorecovery Clinic (NRC) and present data collected regarding the clinic's population, referrals, visits, and clinician satisfaction.

Methods: This is a single-institution experience with a NRC designed to provide an infrastructure for post-ICU care to patients recovering from acute neurologic disorders or systemic conditions with neurologic sequelae.

Discharge disposition for home health care patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia: The role of living arrangements and rural living.

Purpose: To examine the relationship between living arrangements and discharge disposition, and how this relationship differs by the rural or urban characteristics of the patient's residence among home health care patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD).

Methods: This retrospective study used the 2019 Outcome and Assessment Information Set and the Master Beneficiary Summary File. Our study was based on 531,269 Medicare fee-for-service patients with ADRD.

Background: Workplace-Based Assessment (WPBA) forms a major component of the UK General Practitioner (GP) licensing, together with knowledge and clinical skills examination. WPBA includes Case-based Discussion, Consultation Observation Tool, Mini-Consultation Exercise, Multisource Feedback, Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire, Clinical Examination and Procedural Skills, Clinical Supervisor's Report, and Educational Supervisor Review. We aimed to investigate GP trainees' and trainers' perceptions and experiences of WPBA regarding validity and fairness.

In addition, to explore whether the role of neighborhood SES on successful discharge for patients with ADRD varies by the severity of ADRD.

The Impact of Cat Fostering on Older Adult Well-Being and Loneliness: A Feasibility Study.

Objectives: This feasibility study explored the impact of fostering a shelter cat on loneliness and well-being in older adults living alone without a pet. The study also examined the effect of cat fostering on older adults' interest in cat adoption when perceived barriers to adoption were removed.

Methods: A total of 29 adults (age ≥60) were paired with a cat and asked to foster for a minimum of 4 months (with an option to adopt).

Background: GP trainees may not have experienced a systematic and comprehensive education in safe prescribing. Therefore, a self-assessment prescribing review was developed.

With the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who have been, and continue to be, affected by pandemic coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its chronic sequelae, strategies to improve recovery and rehabilitation from COVID-19 are critical global public health priorities. Neurologic complications have been associated with acute COVID-19 infection, usually in the setting of critical COVID-19 illness. Neurologic complications are also a core feature of the symptom constellation of long COVID and portend poor outcomes.

Where and with whom does a brief social-belonging intervention promote progress in college?

A promising way to mitigate inequality is by addressing students' worries about belonging. But where and with whom is this social-belonging intervention effective? Here we report a team-science randomized controlled experiment with 26,911 students at 22 diverse institutions. Results showed that the social-belonging intervention, administered online before college (in under 30 minutes), increased the rate at which students completed the first year as full-time students, especially among students in groups that had historically progressed at lower rates.

An Innovative Academic-Practice Partnership Using Simulation to Provide End-of-Life Education for Undergraduate Nursing Students in Rural Settings.

Innovations that foster academic-practice partnerships can fill direct clinical care gaps and supplement faculty expertise, particularly in rural settings. An end-of-life simulation was cocreated by nursing faculty and regional certified hospice and palliative care nurses (CHPNs) as a course improvement project for traditional baccalaureate students who lacked direct care experience. Groups of students experienced skills-based pain management and end-of-life conversation-based scenarios using CHPNs as standardized patients.

We conducted an exploratory study to describe the emotional experience of adults aged 60 and older in the United States practicing social distancing during COVID-19. The survey asked respondents how they were feeling during social distancing. Responses (n=673) were coded into segments by affect and then specific emotional states.

Gender differences in coping with long-term COVID-19 impacts among older adults.

Initial COVID-19 pandemic research suggests that during the first few weeks of the pandemic women were disproportionately impacted by restrictions compared to men. This study explored whether these gender differences in coping with pandemic restrictions were present among older adults 8-9 months into the COVID-19 pandemic. Data are based on online survey responses ( = 781) from respondents aged 60 and older.

Development of a Robust Manufacturing Route for Molnupiravir, an Antiviral for the Treatment of COVID-19.

Herein is described the development of a large-scale manufacturing process for molnupiravir, an orally dosed antiviral that was recently demonstrated to be efficacious for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.
