This study brings information on the dynamics of C and N in urban forests in a subtropical region. We tested the hypothesis that C and N isotopic sign of leaves and soil and physiological traits of trees would vary from center to periphery in a megacity, considering land uses, intensity of automotive fleet and microclimatic conditions. 800 trees from four fragments were randomly chosen.

Article Synopsis
  • Drought significantly affects the growth and reproductive yield of plants, with outcomes determined by the stress's duration, intensity, and the plant's genetic makeup.
  • The study on Setaria italica revealed metabolic adjustments driven by gene regulation, DNA-binding proteins, and epigenetic changes in response to varying water deficit scenarios.
  • Key findings included the identification of loci tied to drought responses and a positive correlation between gene expression and small RNA accumulation, highlighting the plant's strategies for surviving in water-limited environments.
