NK/T-cell lymphoma of the nasal cavity: an unexpected diagnosis.

Nasal-type Natural Killer/T-cell Lymphoma (NKTL) is a rare form of extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, typically arising in the nasopharynx and displaying an aggressive and ultimately fatal clinical course. The disease is linked to Epstein-Barr virus infection and is endemic to Asia and South America, but extremely few cases have been reported in Europe. We present two cases of nasal NKTL unexpectedly diagnosed in elderly patients, following very different presentations to our otolaryngology service.

Tracheal amyloidosis-an unusual cause of stridor.

Amyloidosis confined to the trachea is an exceedingly rare entity. We describe the case of a 63-year-old man who presented with a history of dysphonia and stridor. Rigid bronchoscopy revealed a segment of abnormal tissue at the midtracheal level, resembling granulation tissue.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease: a report of 3 cases.

Cervical lymphadenopathy has many underlying etiologies. One of its rare causes is Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (Kikuchi's disease, histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis). We discovered such a cause in a 37-year-old woman who had presented with malaise, night sweats, and weight loss in addition to cervical lymphadenopathy.

An unusual case of external ear inflammation caused by sarcoidosis.

Inflammation of the pinna can occur in conjunction with polychondritis and otitis externa. We describe a case of pinneal inflammation that proved to be sarcoidosis, and we discuss the otolaryngologic manifestations of sarcoidosis.

Primary middle-ear lymphoma in a child.

The case of a five year old boy who presented with a lower motor neurone facial nerve palsy secondary to primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) of the middle ear is discussed. Any child who presents with a facial nerve palsy and conductive hearing loss requires thorough evaluation to exclude the possibility of temporal bone malignancy.
