[The adaptational properties and immunoregulatory action of a preparation of proteolytic enzymes in experimental stress].

The use of the experimental model of the development of acute secondary immunodeficiency, accompanied by the redistribution of immunoglobulins from plasma to blood cells, for evaluating the effect of immunomodulation is substantiated. The preparation of proteolytic enzymes Wobenzym [correction of "Vobenzyme"] has been shown to produce significant and dose-dependent decrease the sorption of immunoglobulins on mouse cells in the process of swimming.

[Experimental study of the immunostimulating properties of tomitsid].

Tomicide, a preparation with antibacterial properties, accumulates in the culture medium during the growth of one of streptococcal strains. The injection of the preparation into mice simultaneously with the antigen (sheep red blood cells) produces an adjuvant effect. Tomicide has been found capable of inducing the production of interferon detected in the serum of the animals.

[Use of immune electron microscopy for detecting the hepatitis A virus].

Attempts were made to isolate and identify hepatitis A virus by the method of immune electron microscopy using also biophysical methods and the transfection procedure of cell cultures by nucleic acid preparations. In fecal specimens from patients with infectious hepatitis A, virus-like particles 25-30 nm in diameter were found which reacted with convalescent antisera and could be detected by the immune electron microscopy method. By the same method virus-like particles 22-25 nm in diameter were detected in the blood serum of the patients collected early in the disease.

[Reproduction and interferogenic activity of togaviruses].

A comparative study of the correlation between reproduction and the interferon-inducing activity of viruses in chick embryo fibroblast cultures was carried out with members of different groups of togaviruses: alphavirus (Venezuelan equin encephalomyelitis viru, VEE) and flavivirus (Saint Louis encephalitis virus, SLE). The correspondence between cycles of accumulation of intracellular and extracellular viruses and the dynamics of interferon production the synthesis of which began early in the stage of exponential virus growth and correlated with the dynamics of their reproduction, was determined. Reproduction of the viruses was found to be directly dependent upon the multiplicity of infection; optimal infecting doses for the induction of the largest amounts of interferon were established.
