Article Synopsis
  • Abcc3 is a member of the ATP-binding cassette transporter superfamily, important for multidrug resistance and is highly expressed in blood-derived NK cells but not CD8(+) T cells.
  • In glioma-bearing mice treated with the chemotherapy drug temozolomide (TMZ), NK cells showed increased frequency and function, with Abcc3 significantly upregulated and critical for their survival during treatment.
  • The study indicates that Abcc3 contributes to NK cell resistance against chemotherapy, enhancing their migration, homing to the brain, and cytotoxic responses, suggesting potential clinical benefits in chemo-immunotherapy for patients.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor. To better understand how GBM evolves, we analyzed longitudinal genomic and transcriptomic data from 114 patients. The analysis shows a highly branched evolutionary pattern in which 63% of patients experience expression-based subtype changes.
