Mutations in the gene encoding cardiac myosin-binding protein-C (MyBPC), a thick filament assembly protein that stabilizes sarcomeric structure and regulates cardiac function, are a common cause for the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. About 10% of carriers of the Δ25bp variant of , which is common in individuals from South Asia, are also carriers of the D389V variant on the same allele. Compared with noncarriers and those with alone, indicators for the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy occur with increased frequency in carriers.

In this article, we investigate the binding processes of a fragment of the coronavirus spike protein receptor binding domain (RBD), the hexapeptide YKYRYL on the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, and its inhibitory effect on the binding and activation of the coronavirus-2 spike protein CoV-2 RBD at ACE2. In agreement with an experimental study, we find a high affinity of the hexapeptide to the binding interface between CoV-2 RBD and ACE2, which we investigate using 20 independent equilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulations over a total of 1 μs and a 200-ns enhanced correlation guided MD simulation. We then evaluate the effect of the hexapeptide on the assembly process of the CoV-2 RBD to ACE2 in long-time enhanced correlation guided MD simulations.

We report the successful use of colorimetric arrays to identify chemical warfare agents (CWAs). Methods were developed to interpret and analyze a 73-indicator array with an entirely automated workflow. Using a cross-validated first-nearest-neighbor algorithm for assessing detection and identification performances on 632 exposures, at 30 min postexposure we report, on average, 78% correct chemical identification, 86% correct class-level identification, and 96% correct red light/green light (agent versus non-agent) detection.
