Sickle cell disease (SCD), a chronic debilitating disorder that may negatively affect health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL). In this observational, case-control study, we aim to assess the prevalence of impaired psychosocial profile and poor HRQoL among SCD patients and their caregivers as well as to determine the association of such impairment with parameters of disease severity. Sixty-five children and adolescents with SCD and 65 age- and sex-matched healthy controls and their caregivers were recruited.

The global concern of increasing number of children presenting with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has escalated the need for a case-oriented clinical approach that provides timely diagnosis and management. The aim of this study is to share our experience in managing 64 MIS-C patients of North African ethnicity guided by a risk-based algorithm. Sixty-four patients met the inclusion criteria, 19 (30%) patients were categorized as mild and moderate risk groups and cared for in an isolation ward and 45 patients who belonged to the high-risk group (70%) were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

Background And Aims: The etiological factors involved in the etiology of autism remain elusive and controversial, but both genetic and environmental factors have been implicated. The aim of this study was to assess the levels and possible environmental risk factors and sources of exposure to mercury, lead, and aluminum in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as compared to their matched controls.

Methods: One hundred ASD children were studied in comparison to 100 controls.
