Ciprofloxacin, a widely used second-generation fluoroquinolone for treating bacterial infections, has recently shown notable anticancer properties. This review explores progress in developing ciprofloxacin derivatives with anticancer properties, emphasizing key structural changes that improve their therapeutic effectiveness by modifying the basic group at position 7, the carboxylic acid group at position 3, or both. It further investigates the mechanisms by which these derivatives fight cancer, such as inducing apoptosis, arresting the cell cycle, inhibiting topoisomerase I and II, preventing tubulin polymerization, suppressing interleukin 6, blocking thymidine phosphorylase, inhibiting multidrug resistance proteins, and hindering angiogenesis.

We investigated whether ACE2 G8790A (rs2285666) polymorphism could be a genetic marker for susceptibility to COVID-19 and disease severity in Egyptian children and adolescents.
Methods: This was a prospective case-control study included 580 cases diagnosed with COVID-19, and 580 matched control children and adolescents.
Background: Vanadium (VAN) is a significant trace element, but its higher exposure is reported to cause severe organ toxicity. Tectochrysin (TEC) is a naturally derived flavonoid which demonstrates a wide range of pharmacological properties.
Aim: The current study was planned to assess the cardioprotective potential of TEC against VAN induced cardiotoxicity in rats via regulating biochemical, and histological profile.
Introduction And Objectives: Laser vaporization techniques have emerged as a prominent alternative to transurethral prostate resection in managing benign prostatic obstruction (BPO). This study focuses on assessing the effectiveness of the ejaculatory preserving laser vaporization of the prostate technique compared to the conventional non-ejaculatory approach in managing BPO.
Patients And Methods: Our study was performed between August 2022 and September 2023.
Co-administration of COVID-19 RNA polymerase inhibitors, remdesivir and favipiravir, has synergistic benefits. Together they reduce viral load and inflammation more effectively than either drug used alone. Corticosteroids like dexamethasone are used alongside antivirals in multidrug combination regimens.

In this study, we investigated the host-guest complexation between Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) and Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP-D3/TPZ level of theory in two possible orientations. To determine the reactive sites in both complexes for electrophilic and nucleophilic attacks, we calculated and interpreted the binding energy, HOMO and LUMO orbitals, global chemical reactivity descriptors, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, and Fukui indices.

While conventional implants, typically titanium screws placed into the jawbone, have become the gold standard, many studies explore non-conventional implant designs and materials to address specific challenges and patient needs. This series of literature reviews aimed to delve into non-conventional dental implants, examining their unique features and applications and the current state of evidence supporting their use.

However, BiVP has some limitations, including technical difficulties and high non-response rates. Conduction system pacing encompassing His bundle pacing (HBP) and left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) has recently emerged as a promising alternative to CRT in this group of patients.

Complicated surgical procedures such as ridge augmentation, vestibuloplasty, and sinus lifting are usually accompanied by high risks such as membrane injury, hemorrhage, nerve affection, and increased time needed for implant treatment with unpredictable healing time. Short dental implants allow for faster treatment and decrease the need for complicated surgeries that are usually associated with standard dental implants, as in all four and all six concepts.

This study aimed to investigate the ability of vitamin D to mitigate deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fragmentation in liver cells and bone marrow cytotoxicity induced by chloramphenicol (CAP). Sixty male albino mice were divided into six groups: control, chloramphenicol-treated (250 and 500 mg/kg body weight, 5 days per week for 4 weeks), vitamin D-treated (800 IU/kg body weight, 5 days per week for 4 weeks) and vitamin D plus chloramphenicol-treated groups.

We investigated early and long-term outcomes of these patients, especially those with a true LM bifurcation stenosis. The Left Main Intervention in Acute Coronary Syndrome (LIMACS) is a multicenter registry that enrolled patients who underwent PCI to unprotected LM disease in the setting of ACS using a drug-eluting stent.

Here, resveratrol, a known inhibitor of NQO2, was used as the lead by replacing the double bond in resveratrol with a benzothiazole scaffold. Fifty-five benzothiazoles were designed as NQO2 inhibitors and synthesized, comprising five benzothiazole series with 3,5-dimethoxy, 2,4-dimethoxy, 2,5-dimethoxy, 3,4-dimethoxy, and 3,4,5-trimethoxy substituents, the key synthetic step being a Jacobson cyclisation with the appropriate thiobenzamide.
