Background: The pathological mechanism of sudden death in healthy persons following incidental ethanol intoxication has not yet been fully elucidated and might be underlain by cardiogenic causes.

Aim: Histological assessment of the myocardium in lethal ethanol intoxication. The analysis was based on a histological assessment of specimens of the myocardium obtained from the hearts of 30 deceased males within the age range 29-45 years.

The aim of the study was morphological assessment of the haematopoietic microenvironment of the bone marrow in foetuses from preterm pregnancies. For the morphological assessment the bone marrow was taken from sternum during an autopsy examination. After standard preparation, cellular elements of individual developmental lines were identified with the application of immunohistochemical methods.

The aim of the study was an estimation of the histomorphometry of megakaryocytes (MK) in bone marrow in selected myeloproliferative and lymphoproliferative diseases. Bone marrow specimens were obtained by trephine biopsies from 41 patients with polycythaemia rubra vera (PV), idiopathic myelofibrosis (MF), chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (L). Morphometric evaluation was performed using a standard program set MicroImage (OLYMPUS).
