Fresh liver was found to he a more potent source of the monkey anti-anemia factor than whole liver powder. Beef and pork livers had equal potency. Lyophilized liver retained all the active principle of fresh liver.

THE FREE TRYPTOPHANE CONTENT OF HUMAN URINE.

The amount of 1-tryptophane excreted per day by 9 different normal male subjects was determined by a microbiological method with L. arabinosus as the test organism. From 12-30 mg per day were excreted as contrasted to an average value of 281 mg per day reported by Albanese and Frankston.

GROWTH-RETARDING EFFECT OF CORN IN NICOTINIC ACID-LOW RATIONS AND ITS COUNTERACTION BY TRYPTOPHANE.

Either 50 mg 1(-)tryptophane or 1.0 mg nicotinic acid per 100 gms of ration completely counteracts the growth retardation caused by the inclusion of 40 per cent. corn grits in a low protein ration.

A RAPID METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF IRON IN ENRICHED BREAD.

A modification of the a-a' bipyridine method which requires no ashing is proposed for the determination of iron in enriched bread.

TELANG LIVER AND VITAMIN A TOXICITY.

(1) About 20 per cent. of fresh telang livers were toxic to weanling rats receiving the calcium supplemented livers as their sole dietary. (2) The symptoms observed in rats were growth failure and multiple spontaneous fractures of the bones of the extremities.
