Purpose: This study aimed to compare the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures with short proximal femoral nailing in elderly patients in the lateral decubitus position versus the supine position on traction tables.

Methods: From June 2020 to January 2022, a prospective case-control study was performed on 96 patients who presented with unstable trochanteric fractures treated by internal fixation via short proximal femoral nail (PFN). Patients were divided into two groups: Group A, which included patients who underwent surgery in the lateral position; and Group B, which included those in the supine position.

Introduction: This study explores the potential of the endophytic fungus Aureobasidium pullulans AKW for melanin production and its anticancer activity.

Method: We report a significant achievement: AKW synthesized 4.89 g/l of melanin in a simple fermentation medium devoid of tyrosine, a precursor typically required for melanin biosynthesis.

Cephalomedullary nailing for unstable proximal femoral fractures is widely utilized, especially for geriatric osteoporotic fractures. There are two starting points for entry, namely trochanteric tip entry and pyriformis fossa entry, both have advantages and disadvantages, the tip of the greater trochanter seems that it is not the ideal starting point for trochanteric entry nails, the study presents the foothill entry point as a reproducible, technically feasible entry point to overcome the shortcoming of both standard starting points, and it could be easy executed with clear intraoperative fluoroscopic landmarks and lead to appropriate nail position without intraoperative complications.

The impact of methyl salicylate (MeSA) or sodium nitroprusside (SNP) in chitosan (CS)/Gum Arabic (GA) mixture on physio-chemical characteristics and antioxidant status during the postharvest ripening of green tomato fruits was studied. CS/GA-MeSA at a 1 mM formulation was the best treatment to retard firmness and titratable acidity (TA) losses. Moreover, this formulation retarded pigmentation progress where it had the lowest significant values of total carotenes (TCs) and lycopene (LYP) contents until the 15th day of the storage period, as well as efficiently faced the rise in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels.

is one of the globally significant plant pathogens that infect a wide host range of economically important plants. A study was conducted to evaluate the hypothesis that an avirulent strain of can act as a biocontrol mediator for managing potato bacterial wilt. Virulent was isolated and identified (GenBank accession number; OP180100).

Green mold, caused by Penicillium digitatum, is the most economically important postharvest disease of orange fruit worldwide. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of β-aminobutyric acid (BABA) treatment on the inhibition of P. digitatum both in orange fruit and in vitro as well as the possible mechanisms of action.

We tested the ability of 14 strains of to emit volatile compounds that decreased or stopped the growth of . Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from strains designated T41 and T45 inhibited the mycelial growth of grown on a laboratory medium by 80 and 81.4%, respectively, and on potato tubers by 93.

The present study was performed to synthesize, for the first time, the magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPs) using the cell filtrate of the endobacterium Burkholderia rinojensis. The MgO NPs were characterized by Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and zeta potential (ZP). The UV spectrum of the MgO NPs showed a sharp absorption peak at 330 nm.

The present study investigated the insecticidal activity of the different organic extracts from the entomopathogenic fungi, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Metarhizium anisopliae, Purpureocillium lilacinum, and Trichoderma longibrachiatum towards cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii. The methanol extracts from the mycelia and spores of C. cladosporioides and P.
