Introduction: Our objective is to study the relationship between armed conflict injuries and pain and the treatments that have been applied to Ukrainian injured soldiers in our hospital.

Methods: We performed an observational study of a sample of 91 injured soldiers. The metrics we selected for the study included time from injury, length of stay, diagnosis, treatment, type and intensity of pain and questionnaires about pain and quality of life for the group of amputees.

Despite advances in four-factor (4F)-induced reprogramming (4FR) in vitro and in vivo, how 4FR interconnects with senescence remains largely under investigated. Here, using genetic and chemical approaches to manipulate senescent cells, we show that removal of p16 cells resulted in the 4FR of somatic cells into totipotent-like stem cells. These cells expressed markers of both pluripotency and the two-cell embryonic state, readily formed implantation-competent blastoids and, following morula aggregation, contributed to embryonic and extraembryonic lineages.

Redox metabolism is increasingly investigated in cancer as driving regulator of tumor progression, response to therapies and long-term patients' quality of life. Well-established cancer therapies, such as radiotherapy, either directly impact redox metabolism or have redox-dependent mechanisms of action defining their clinical efficacy. However, the ability to integrate redox information across signaling and metabolic networks to facilitate discovery and broader investigation of redox-regulated pathways in cancer remains a key unmet need limiting the advancement of new cancer therapies.

Aim: Symptoms of autonomic failure are frequently the presentation of advanced age and neurodegenerative diseases that impair adaptation to common physiologic stressors. The aim of this work was to examine the interaction between the sympathetic and motor nervous system, the involvement of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) in neuromuscular junction (NMJ) presynaptic motor function, the stability of postsynaptic molecular organization, and the skeletal muscle composition and function.

Methods: Since muscle weakness is a symptom of diseases characterized by autonomic dysfunction, we studied the impact of regional sympathetic ablation on muscle motor innervation by using transcriptome analysis, retrograde tracing of the sympathetic outflow to the skeletal muscle, confocal and electron microscopy, NMJ transmission by electrophysiological methods, protein analysis, and state of the art microsurgical techniques, in C57BL6, MuRF1KO and Thy-1 mice.

Inflammation is frequently associated with initiation, progression, and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC). Here, we unveil a CRC-specific metastatic programme that is triggered via the transcriptional repressor, GFI1. Using data from a large cohort of clinical samples including inflammatory bowel disease and CRC, and a cellular model of CRC progression mediated by cross-talk between the cancer cell and the inflammatory microenvironment, we identified GFI1 as a gating regulator responsible for a constitutively activated signalling circuit that renders CRC cells competent for metastatic spread.
