- Starting antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV-infected babies within 21 days of birth can help improve their brain development.
- In a study, 29 infants were looked at, mostly girls, and early treatment seemed to keep their development in a good range.
- The results showed that even though some infants still had the virus, many of them were developing normally when assessed at about 11 months old.
