Pediatric trauma BIG score: Predicting mortality in polytraumatized pediatric patients.

Background: Trauma is a worldwide health problem and the major cause of death and disability, particularly affecting the young population. It is important to remember that pediatric trauma care has made a significant improvement in the outcomes of these injured children.

Aim Of The Work: This study aimed at evaluation of pediatric trauma BIG score in comparison with New Injury Severity Score (NISS) and Pediatric Trauma Score (PTS) in Tanta University Emergency Hospital.

Ketoisophorone transformation by Marchantia polymorpha and Nicotiana tabacum cultured cells.

Stereospecific olefin (C=C) and carbonyl (C=O) reduction of the readily available prochiral compound ketoisophorone (2,2,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1,4-dione) (1) by Marchantia polymorpha and Nicotiana tabacum cell suspension cultures produce the chiral products (6R)-levodione (2), (4R,5S)-4-hydroxy-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexanone (3), and (4R,6R)-actinol (4) as well as the minor components (4R)-hydroxyisophorone (5) and (4S)-phorenol (6).

Monoterpene coumarins from Ferula ferulago.

Two monoterpene coumarins, designated ferulagol A and B, as well as three known monoterpene coumarins and three sesquiterpene lactones were isolated from the chloroform extract of the roots of Ferula ferulago. The structures of ferulagol A and B were determined to be 7-[(E)-3'-hydroxy-3',7'-dimethyl-4',6'-octadienyloxy]coumarin and 7-[(3'Z,5'E)-7'-hydroxy-3',7'-dimethyl-3',5'-octadienyloxy]coumarin, respectively.

Sesquiterpene lactones and other constituents from Hymenoxys richardsonii and H. subintegra.

Two Hymenoxys species afforded, in addition to known compounds, three new pseudoguaianoloides, a new sesquiterpene glucoside and a new butyrolactone. This is the first report of an eudesmane from the genus Hymenoxys. The structures were elucidated by high-field NMR and chemical transformations.
