Article Synopsis
- - The study aimed to assess how common olfactory dysfunction is in patients using Isotretinoin (ISO) for acne treatment and what factors may influence this condition using the University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test (UPSIT®).
- - Involving 70 patients, results showed that 62.9% of ISO users experienced olfactory dysfunction compared to only 17.1% in non-users, with most cases being mild.
- - The findings indicated that olfactory issues were linked to longer treatment duration, higher cumulative doses of ISO, and nasal obstruction, even though most patients were unaware of their olfactory problems.
