Assessment of the effectiveness of Monte Carlo Simulation for dose control at the Moroccan Boukhalef ionization facility.

Controlling the absorbed dose received by a target is a major challenge encountered during ionizing radiation applications. For experimentally measuring absorbed dose, dosimetric systems are used. On the other hand, in addition to experimental methods of dose measurement, there are other alternatives for calculating absorbed doses, these are numerical methods based on the Monte Carlo method which are very sophisticated and widely used throughout the world.

The purpose of the current study was to derive the local diagnostic reference levels (LDRLs) for paediatric abdominal-pelvis (AP) and chest-abdominal-pelvis (CAP) computed tomography in Morocco. The data were gathered retrospectively from two hospitals for 6 months. The LDRLs were defined by volume CT dose index (CTDIvol), dose-length product (DLP) per sequence, DLP per procedure and size-specific dose estimates (SSDE).

Thus, organizations handling these sources must be endowed with plans how to react in case of any radiological emergency situations. Monte Carlo simulations are among the most widely employed methods used for the management and reconstruction of radiological incidents and accidents.

Recently, few reports have described a serious condition linked to SARS-CoV-2 that mimics Kawasaki disease called multisystem inflammatory syndrome, especially in children (MIS-C) and young adults. In this work, we report on a severe form of MIS in a young female adult previously infected by SARS-CoV-2. She was treated by plasmapheresis with albumin and steroids, however outcome was fatal.

Gayet Wernicke's encephalopathy with cortical damage following a subtotal gastrectomy: An uncommon association.

Wernicke's encephalopathy is a pathological entity caused by Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) deficiency in malnourished individuals, especially alcoholics, patients operated for digestive surgery or suffering from gastrointestinal tract's diseases or incoercible vomiting. Classically it manifests by confusion with oculomotor disorders and ataxia. However, other neurological manifestations are possible.

Diagnostic Reference Levels for Paediatric Head Computed Tomography in Morocco: A Nationwide Survey.

The purpose of this study was to establish the diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) for paediatric head computed tomography (CT) in Morocco and to assess the effective doses received during head CT examinations. The data of 1007 patients were collected retrospectively from Moroccan university children's hospitals. The sample was classified per age group:<1, 1-5, 5-10 and 10-15 years.
