Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has reached high prevalence, paralleling the obesity pandemic. The aggressive form of the disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), is characterized by fatty infiltration and inflammation of the liver, can progress to compensated cirrhosis (CC) and end-stage liver disease (ESLD: decompensated cirrhosis [DCC] and hepatocellular carcinoma [HCC]), and may ultimately require liver transplantation (LT). Real-world data on the burden of NAFLD/NASH are limited.

We aimed to assess the effectiveness and cost of patients with first line tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) sequence of first (1G) and second generation (2G) followed by osimertinib. Using the French nationwide claims and hospitalization database, we analyzed non-small-cell lung cancer patients who had been treated with osimertinib between April 2015 and December 2017, after a first line treatment with a TKI-1G/2G. The median time on treatment for sequential TKI-1G/2G followed by osimertinib was 34 months (95% CI: 31-46); 13 and 12months, respectively for TKI 1G or 2G and TKI 3G, respectively.

Introduction: Diabetes is a growing epidemic that imposes a substantial economic burden on healthcare systems. This study aimed to evaluate the cost of managing type 2 diabetes (T2D) with dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors (DPP4Is) using real-world data.

Method: This longitudinal study used data from the French EGB (Echantillon Généraliste des Bénéficiaires) database.

Estimate the direct costs of high-risk patients presenting with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD) in France. This retrospective cohort study used a representative claims database, the "Echantillon Généraliste de Bénéficiaires" (EGB), to identify patients presenting with CAD or PAD between 2011 and 2016. Among those, patients meeting the COMPASS trial selection criteria were selected, as well as controls matched on age and sex.

To investigate the predictors and burden of hospital readmission with recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (rCDI) in a large European healthcare system with a low prevalence of hyper-virulent C. difficile clones. We conducted an inception cohort study based on an exhaustive health insurance database and including all survivors of a first hospital stay with CDI over a one-year period (2015) in France.

Overall survival (OS) of patients with recurrent or metastatic (R/M) squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) is extremely poor. New therapeutic options emerge but need to establish their economic value. The objective was to describe the direct and related costs of R/M SCCHN in France.

Background: Little is known about the characteristics and prognosis of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and related real-life health costs in France.

Methods: A cohort of patients diagnosed with PAD between 2007 and 2011 was extracted from the French Echantillon Généraliste des Bénéficiaires (EGB) claims database. The patients were followed up from the date of PAD diagnosis.

Background: Mortality and complications of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in France have declined over the last twenty years, but still remain high. Practice guidelines recommend secondary prevention measures to reduce these. Insurance claims databases can be used to assess the management of post MI and other cardiovascular outcomes in everyday practice.

Background: Limited information is available on the epidemiology and economics of bleeding during surgery in France.

Method: The objective of this study was to examine the incidence, costs and length of stay (LOS) of bleeding-related complications during various surgical procedures.

Results: Amongst all 88 different surgical DRGs recognised by the French database 24 (totalling 321,657 hospitalisations) yielded WB rates ≥10% (range 10.
