Minimally invasive colorectal resection (MICR) for colorectal cancer (CRC) is associated with elevated levels of seven proangiogenic proteins that persist for 2-4 weeks after surgery. The proangiogenic plasma may promote tumor growth postoperatively in patients with residual cancer. To the best of our knowledge, the impact of surgery on interleukin 8 (IL-8) levels is unknown.
