Vitiligo is an autoimmune skin disease that can be influenced by stress, including that resulting from sleep deprivation and sleep disturbances. Sleep is essential in the regulation of several hormonal, metabolic and autoimmune pathways that may have important roles in vitiligo. This study aimed to investigate the potential interplay between hormonal, metabolic, and autoimmune markers in vitiligo patients, and the possible influence of sleep quality in these vitiligo pathways.

Additionally, it may influence circadian melatonin balance, that may indirectly induce sleep regulation, which in turn could potentially contribute to vitiligo improvement. The association between melatonin, vitiligo and phototherapy has been little investigated.

Objectives: To analyze levels of immune serum components (cytokines) in a vitiligo group, and assess whether there was any association with sleep.
Participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games demanded great efforts and had become extremely challenging compared with previous competitions. In addition to the physical performance of each modality, athletes had to deal with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and jet lag. The present manuscript pointed out negative factors that encompass the COVID-19 pandemic and the features brought out by the jet lag experienced by the athletes of this last Olympics.

Sleep disturbances can alter the immune system and enhance oxidative stress, which may increase the risk of carcinogenesis. This study aimed to analyze the quality of life and sleep in KTR with and without NMSC.

We raise a subject of current interest, namely the possible relationship between sleep in general, OSA, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), an intestinal disease that can be made worse by stressful events. The intermittent hypoxia caused by OSA can induce alterations in the gut microbiota, which can lead to the dysregulation of the gut-brain axis and the worsening of IBS.

There is no specific drug to treat this condition, although some evidence suggests that melatonin could promote the recovery of olfactory sensory neurons.
Methods: We set out to perform a narrative review to synthesize the current evidence in this area in respect of our hypothesis that melatonin may be linked with anosmia and play a part in oxidative stress and the regulation of inflammation.
Although rosacea is classically considered a skin disorder, recent evidence shows that it is emerging as a systemic disease. The classical symptoms of burning, intense erythema, and flushing could be related to several systemic and metabolic comorbidities. We highlight the role of sleep disturbance as a possible trigger for rosacea, which could be explained by the inflammatory and stressful conditions that can be produced by poor sleep.

Although there is little evidence about the efficacy of medications topically applied in the morning compared to those administered in the evening, they are commonly prescribed to be used overnight. Poor sleep may affect the tegument, but its repercussion on dermatological therapy is not clear.

At the same time, these middle-aged women may be more concerned about skin aging and use dermatologic procedures to delay or repair the effects of aging, environmental factors, and oxidative stress on the skin. It has been suggested that the use of skin cosmetics and procedures may play a role in the reproductive system, although their possible effects have not yet been clearly elucidated.

Research has focused on the reasons why older adults are at greater risk; Sleep-related factors have been suggested as one possible explanation for this. An individual's sleep pattern undergoes significant changes over the course of their life.

We call attention to the importance of evaluating sleep complaints in these patients, given the scarcity of studies on this subject. As the disease commonly results in severe skin injury, it can affect social relationships and the life and sleep quality of the individuals, leading to significant psychologic damage that can persist throughout their lives.

We call attention to the current COVID-19 pandemic, that is leading to an increase in the prevalence of sleep disturbances, and as a consequence, higher states of stress and anxiety, which are possible triggers for TE. In parallel, trichodynia is a sensorial symptom that is commonly related with hair diseases, including TE.

Poor sleep quality can induce a pro-inflammatory state and aggravate depressive symptoms. Depression has been linked with high levels of peripheral and central pro-inflammatory markers.
