The mercury content in the hair of residents in the industrial city of Cherepovets (0.297 mg/kg) is three times lower than that of residents in the specially protected natural area of Kirillovsky district (0.877 mg/kg), which is approximately 110 km away from Cherepovets.

Material And Methods: The study included patients with AMI who have recently had COVID-19 (AMI-post-COVID, n=56) and patients with AMI who have not recently had COVID-19 (AMI-control, n=141). Healthy volunteers constituted the control groups and were also divided into control-post-COVID (n=32) and control-control (n=71) groups.
Our previous study showed that not only bovine lactoferrin (LF), the protein of milk and neutrophils, but also the human species forms complexes with oleic acid (OA) that inhibit tumor growth. Repeated injections of human LF in complex with OA (LF/8OA) to hepatoma-carrying mice decelerated tumor growth and increased animals' longevity. However, whether the effect of the LF/8OA complex is directed exclusively against malignant cells was not studied.

The goal of our study was to analyze the features of blood coagulation, platelet aggregation, and plasma proteomics in COVID-19 convalescents with AMI. The study included 66 AMI patients and 58 healthy volunteers.

The previously observed effect of inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 infection by ferristatin II, an inducer of transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) degradation, prompted the study of competition between Spike protein and TfR1 ligands, especially lactoferrin (Lf) and transferrin (Tf). We hypothesized molecular mimicry of Spike protein as cross-reactivity of Spike-specific antibodies with Tf and Lf.

Materials And Methods: We prospectively included 58 patients with COVID-19 (39 patients with moderate disease severity and 18 patients with severe disease) and 47 healthy volunteers as a control group. All participants underwent the assessment of flow-mediated dilation (FMD) of brachial artery, impedance aggregometry, rotational thromboelastometry and thrombodynamics.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is characterized by immune activation in response to viral spread, in severe cases leading to the development of cytokine storm syndrome (CSS) and increased mortality. Despite its importance in prognosis, the pathophysiological mechanisms of CSS in COVID-19 remain to be defined. Towards this goal, we analyzed cytokine profiles and their interrelation in regard to anti-cytokine treatment with tocilizumab in 98 hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

The exact pathogenetic mechanism remains uncertain. The aging process is the main and the clearest risk factor of AMD.

Specifically, miRNAs may trigger an enhancer promoting chromatin remodelling in the enhancer region, thus activating the enhancer and its target genes. Here we present MIREyA, a pipeline developed to predict such miRNA-gene-enhancer trios based on an expression dataset which obviates the need to write custom scripts.

In this study, constitutive parameters of the antitumor effect of LF/OA complex were explored. Complex LF/OA was prepared by titrating recombinant human LF with OA.

The goal of our present study was to evaluate which component of clot formation process including endothelial function, platelets aggregation and plasma coagulation, as well as endogenous fibrinolysis in patients with COVID-19 correlates with the severity of the disease. We prospectively included 58 patients with COVID-19 and 47 healthy volunteers as a control group that we recruited before the pandemic started.

The strong interaction of MPO with low-density lipoproteins (LDL) promotes proatherogenic modification of LDL by HOCl. The MPO-modified LDL (Mox-LDL) accumulate in macrophages, resulting in the formation of foam cells, which is the pathognomonic symptom of atherosclerosis.

Recently, the concept has arisen that a special class of architectural proteins exists, which are responsible not only for global chromosome architecture but also for the local regulation of enhancer-promoter interactions. Here, we describe a new architectural protein, with a total size of only 375 aa, which contains an N-terminal zinc finger-associated domain (ZAD) and a cluster of five zinc finger C2H2 domains at the C-terminus. This new protein, named ZAD and Architectural Function 1 protein (ZAF1 protein), is weakly and ubiquitously expressed, with the highest expression levels observed in oocytes and embryos.

Evaluation of anemic syndrome (AS) was performed in 79 patients with advanced stages of Hodgkin's lymphoma (LH) at various stages of chemotherapy (CT) according to the EACOPP-14 scheme. Against the background of the treatment, the number of erythrocytes and, accordingly, the HCT indices decreased with each subsequent cycle of chemotherapy (CTC) and reached the maximum reduction to 5, 6 th CCT. Absolute iron deficiency (IDA), which was combined with a low level of EPO and an inadequate degree of anemia, was found in a few LH patients (5 people, 6.

These social rewards bring users back to SNSs repeatedly, with some users displaying maladaptive, excessive SNS use. Symptoms of this excessive SNS use are similar to symptoms of substance use and behavioral addictive disorders.

Among the properties of lactoferrin (LF) are bactericidal, antianemic, immunomodulatory, antitumour, antiphlogistic effects. Previously we demonstrated its capacity to stabilize in vivo HIF-1-alpha and HIF-2-alpha, which are redox-sensitive multiaimed transcription factors. Various tissues of animals receiving recombinant human LF (rhLF) responded by expressing the HIF-1-alpha target genes, hence such proteins as erythropoietin (EPO), ceruloplasmin, etc.

The thrombosis of veins of various localization developed in 12 patients with subacute form of DIC. The application of low-molecular heparin in combination with concentrate of anti-thrombin III and freshly frozen plasma decreases intensity of intra-vascular blood coagulation and results in reduction of factors of coagulation and is an efficient and adequate method of treatment of thrombosis and thromboembolism of pulmonary artery in oncologic patients.

Slightly sour soils and low soil humus levels in the Tomsk Region were ascertained to be conducive to low iodine content in soils and plants. As compared with the clarke of iodine in the lithosphere, the soils in the Tomsk Region were marked by low iodine levels, permitting it to be, in terms of endemic goiter, referred to as a biogeochemical province.
