Our aim in this study was to translate and psychometrically evaluate a Chinese version of the Behavioral Regulation in Sport Questionnaire (BRSQ). Participants were Chinese collegiate athletes ( = 361) who were competitive in their respective sports. We examined the construct validity of the Chinese BRSQ using alternative structural equation models and evaluated convergent validity, factor score reliability, and measurement invariance of the optimal model.

Physical activity and sport participation behaviors in children and adolescents are consistently shaped by surrounding ecological systems. Accumulating evidence highlights individual, family, peer, school and teacher, and macroenvironment elements such as policies that affect unstructured physical activity choices in youth populations. However, the reason for participation has not been fully interpreted from the perspective of the youth themselves, especially those from an Asian cultural background.

Methods: We conducted a three-group pilot randomized control trial (#NCT03925493) comparing RPE of 3-4 on the 10-point modified Borg scale, 60-80% of heart rate reserve (HRR) with heart rate (HR) monitored by telemetry, or 60-80% of HRR with a personal HR monitor (HRM) for high-fidelity adherence to THRR. Primary outcomes were protocol fidelity and feasibility.
The Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ) was revised to its third iteration (BREQ-3) and has been widely used to measure different types of exercise motivation, including amotivation, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, integrated regulation, and intrinsic motivation. However, the Chinese version has not been similarly revised. The aim of this study was to develop and examine the psychometric properties of the Chinese BREQ-3 using alternative structural equation models.

A small but growing body of literature has examined how female athletes negotiate these seemingly conflicting roles of mother and athlete. However, the current literature has predominantly focused on heterosexual, cisgender, White women.

A concomitant of sedentariness is compromised mental health. We investigated the effects of COVID-19 lockdown on PA, sedentary behavior, and mental health across four Western nations (USA, UK, France, and Australia).

The Seifert Assessment of Functional Capacity for Dancers (SAFD) employs commonly utilized dance movements in progressively intense 3-minute stages, continued until volitional exhaustion. A convenience sample of 13 female collegiate dancers completed a familiariza- tion trial of the SAFD, an SAFD trial, a peak treadmill test, and a second SAFD trial.

While several types of PFAS have been voluntarily phased out by their manufacturers, these chemicals continue to be of ecological and public health concern due to their persistence in the environment and their presence in living organisms. Moreover, while the compounds referred to as "legacy" PFAS remain in the environment, alternative compounds have emerged as replacements for their legacy predecessors and are now detected in numerous matrices.

Affective primes can influence affective evaluations and associations. Such influence has meaningful implications for the promotion of exercise behavior, yet there is scant research on priming effects in exercise settings.

Hypotheses: (1) Athletes will have similar odds of CD as general population estimates (approximately 1 in 141) based on self-report and signs and symptoms, (2) athletes scoring higher on the Celiac Symptom Index (CSI) will have lower self-reported quality of life (QoL), (3) athletes scoring higher on the CSI will have higher depression scores, and (4) athletes scoring higher on the CSI will have higher perceived stress scores.
Study Design: Epidemiological cross-sectional study.
Positive affective responses to exercise have been linked to longer-term adherence. The dual-mode model indicates that affective responses during heavy exercise (between the ventilatory threshold and the respiratory compensation point) are subject to interindividual variability (zone of response variability). Participants (N = 48) completed measures to assess personal characteristics prior to a graded exercise test.

Previous studies have demonstrated estrogens in runoff from poultry manure-amended fields but have not tracked changes in estrogenicity within this water over time. Microbial conversion of conjugated estrogens (a major portion of water-extractable estrogens) to parent forms may result in temporary increases in estrogenicity in natural water bodies.

While the function of ATP13A2 is unclear, in vitro studies suggest it is a lysosomal protein that interacts with the metals manganese (Mn) and zinc and the presynaptic protein alpha-synuclein. Loss of ATP13A2 function in mice causes sensorimotor deficits, enhanced autofluorescent storage material, and accumulation of alpha-synuclein.

Moreover, the negative financial/economic consequences affected by poor male health outcomes also has been of great concern in the United States and abroad. Early and consistent access to preventative health care may improve health outcomes; however, men are far less likely to access these services.

Since prolonged exposure to Mn leads to manganism, a disorder exhibiting a diverse array of neurological impairments progressing to a debilitating and irreversible extrapyramidal condition symptomatically similar to Parkinson's disease, we measured the concentration of Mn as well as Fe, Zn and Cu in three region of the brain (globus pallidus, striatum and inferior colliculus) and three regions in the cochlea (stria vascularis, basilar membrane and modiolus) under normal conditions or after 30 or 60 days of oral administration of Mn (10 mg/ml ad libitum). Under normal conditions, Mn, Zn and Fe were typically higher in the cochlea than in the three brain regions whereas Cu was equal to or lower.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the interrater reliability of 4 lactation assessment tools in this population.
Methods: A convenience sample of 45 women (body mass index > 27.
Manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) are essential nutrients which aid in the proper functioning of cells, but high concentrations of these metals can be toxic to various organs. Little is known about the endogenous concentrations of these metals in the cochlea, the auditory portion of the inner ear which is extremely small and difficult to access. To fill this gap, a trace quantitative digestion and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry method was developed to determine the concentrations of these metals in the stria vascularis, organ of Corti, and spiral ganglion, three critically important parts of the cochlea (≤ 1.

A sample (N = 330) of adolescent males, aged 14-19 years, completed the ABISS to determine current body image satisfaction. Data were analyzed for measures of instrument composite reliability and initial content and construct validity.
