Context: Rural nurses require access to education that exposes them to the most up-to-date information and skill development. However, since most education opportunities are located in urban centers and focused on providing skills to urban nurses, geography effectively acts as a barrier to accessing education that meets the needs of rural nurses. The Rural Nursing Certificate Program is a post-basic education program that addresses these concerns by providing rural-relevant content online, with limited campus sessions.

Methods: Patients with pancreatic head adenocarcinoma undergoing surgery with intent to resect during the last 5 years were identified. EUS and CT data on vascular involvement were collected.
Data from 33 lesbian and 54 gay male cohabiting couples were used to examine the relation between parental identification and mate selection. Theories of mate selection and parental identification are reviewed. Effects of gender and sexual orientation as they relate to parental identification and mate selection in gay male and lesbian couples also are reviewed.

In this exploratory and descriptive study we investigated the experiences of and impact on young girls and older women caring for family members living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic and terminal illnesses at home in three districts of Botswana. Using qualitative research methods, we conducted 70 interviews with family caregivers and key informants such as community home-based care (CHBC) team members and government officials. Older women reported feeling overwhelmed with the magnitude and multiplicity of tasks they had to perform.

The Victoria AIDS Respite Care Society (VARCS) has provided respite care to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWAs) since 1991. In 1998, an evaluation of VARCS services was undertaken to gain a better understanding of the VARCS model of community-based care. The evaluation was comprised of four components including an examination of the historical evolution of VARCS, an account of the community development processes used, a description of VARCS services, and an analysis of the impact and outcomes of VARCS services.
