The immune system performs critical functions to defend against invading pathogens and maintain tissue homeostasis. Immune cells reside within or are recruited to a host of mechanically active tissues throughout the body and, as a result, are exposed to varying types and degrees of mechanical stimuli. Despite their abundance in such tissues, the role of mechanical stimuli in influencing immune cell function and the molecular mechanisms responsible for mechanics-mediated changes are still poorly understood.

The production of sustainable diesel without hydrogen addition remains a challenge for low-cost fuel production. In this work, the pyrolysis of unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) basic soaps was studied for the production sustainable diesel (bio-hydrocarbons). UFAs were obtained from palm fatty acids distillate (PFAD), which was purified by the fractional crystallization method.

Pyrolysis is one of the available technologies to convert oleic basic soap into gasoline-compatible fuel. In this research, the process mentioned was applied using the mixture of Ca, Mg, Zn in the production of oleic basic soap. The reactions were carried out in a batch glass reactor at atmospheric pressure at the temperature of 450 °C.

The nutrition literature and authoritative reports increasingly recognise the concept of ultra-processed foods (UPF), as a descriptor of unhealthy diets. UPFs are now prevalent in diets worldwide. This review aims to identify and appraise the studies on healthy participants that investigated associations between levels of UPF consumption and health outcomes.

Nutrient-based indices are commonly used to assess the health potential of individual foods for nutrition policy actions. This study aimed to evaluate the nutrient profile-informed Australian Health Star Rating (HSR), against NOVA and an index informed by the Australian Dietary Guidelines (ADGs), to determine the extent of alignment. All products displaying an HSR label in the Australian marketplace between June 2014 and June 2019 were extracted from the Mintel Global New Product Database, and classified into one of four NOVA categories, and either as an ADG five food group (FFG) food or discretionary food.

Cancer cachexia, characterized by weight loss and progressive tissue wasting, has been postulated to be mediated by cytokines. In this study the effect of FR143430, (2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydro-3-(4-pyridyl)pyrazolo[1, 5-a]pyrimidine monohydrochloride), an inhibitor of Interleukin-1 and Tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF- a), on adenocarcinoma colon26-induced cachexia was investigated in mice. Tumor growth was not affected.

Two cases of catamenial pneumothorax are reported, a rare condition characterized by its sudden occurrence in a female patient between the ages of 30 and 40 years, always at the onset of the menstrual cycle. Its exact origin is unknown, but the frequent co-existence of endometriosis and a defect in the diaphragm suggests that endometriosis may be important in the etiology both of the pneumothorax and the diaphragmatic lesion. Pelvic endometriosis was present in both our patients, one of whom also had diaphragmatic endometriosis.
