Informing the design of a whole of life immunisation register for Australia.

Introduction: In 2016, Australia launched a whole life immunisation register, the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), building on a universal childhood register established in 1997. Immunisation Information Systems are well established in Europe, the US and elsewhere. However, a national system covering immunisation across the lifespan, with complete capture of the population and satisfactory data quality, is rare.

Uptake of influenza, pneumococcal and herpes zoster vaccines among people with heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the major cause of hospitalisation and death globally. Infections exacerbate cardiovascular events among cardiac patients, contributing to all-cause mortality. Vaccination is a cheap and effective intervention that can prevent infection.

Using Open-Source Intelligence to Detect Early Signals of COVID-19 in China: Descriptive Study.

Background: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in China was first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on December 31, 2019, and the first cases were officially identified around December 8, 2019. Although the origin of COVID-19 has not been confirmed, approximately half of the early cases were linked to a seafood market in Wuhan. However, the first two documented patients did not visit the seafood market.

Measles control in Australia - threats, opportunities and future needs.

Control of measles was the focus of a national workshop held in 2015 in Sydney, Australia, bringing together stakeholders in disease control and immunisation to discuss maintaining Australia's measles elimination status in the context of regional and global measles control. The global epidemiology of measles was reviewed, including outbreaks in countries that have achieved elimination, such as the Disneyland outbreak in the United States and large outbreaks in Sydney, Australia. Transmission of measles between Australia and New Zealand occurs, but has not been a focus of control measures.

Equity in disease prevention: Vaccines for the older adults - a national workshop, Australia 2014.

On the 20th June, 2014 the National Health and Medical Research Council's Centre for Research Excellence in Population Health "Immunisation in under Studied and Special Risk Populations", in collaboration with the Public Health Association of Australia, hosted a workshop "Equity in disease prevention: vaccines for the older adults". The workshop featured international and national speakers on ageing and vaccinology. The workshop was attended by health service providers, stakeholders in immunisation, ageing, primary care, researchers, government and non-government organisations, community representatives, and advocacy groups.
