Patients with burn injuries are often initially transported to centers without burn capabilities, requiring subsequent transfer to a higher level of care. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of this treatment delay on outcomes. Adult burn patients meeting American Burn Association criteria for transfer at a single burn center were retrospectively identified.

Methods: An IRB-approved protocol was used to identify patients who underwent LG to alleviate symptoms of acute or chronic gastric obstruction secondary to a paraesophageal hernia.
Background: National guidelines suggest routine intraoperative esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) during laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM) to assess for mucosal perforation and myotomy adequacy, but the utility of this is unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of intraoperative EGD on outcomes after LHM.
Methods: Patients who underwent LHM in a single center were retrospectively identified.
Background: There is an increasing trend toward regionalization of emergency general surgery, which burdens patients. The absence of a standardized, emergency general surgery transfer algorithm creates the potential for unnecessary transfers. The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical reasoning prompting emergency general surgery transfers and to initiate a discussion for optimal emergency general surgery use.

This study sought to create and validate a literature-based treatment algorithm for LG-NELM.
Methods: A treatment algorithm to maximize overall survival (OS) was designed using peer-reviewed articles evaluating treatment of LG-NELM.
The reality of sexual harassment is unmasking in many fields, and medical trainees constitute a vulnerable and at-risk group. We report the prevalence of sexual harassment among GI, internal medicine, and pediatric residents, with a focus on identifying underlying reasons for lack of victim reporting. A modified previously validated Department of Defense survey on sexual harassment was e-mailed to 261 GI, 132 pediatric, and 271 internal medicine program directors.

We sought to evaluate the histologic factors of DCIS-AMC near lumpectomy margins.
Methods: Women with DCIS treated with breast-conserving surgery (BCS) who had DCIS-AMC on surgical specimens were identified.
Background: Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most deadly forms of cancer in the United States, with an annual incidence to death ratio of 0.92 because of the late stage at diagnosis. Identification of high-risk individuals (HRIs) that would be ideal for screening is needed to identify precursor lesions and small early stage disease.
