Intratympanic steroids for combined treatment of idiopathic sudden hearing loss: when is it too late?

Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) requires early treatment. To describe our experience on intratympanic steroid treatment (ITS) of ISSNHL analyzing the delay to start therapy as prognostic factor. We perform a retrospective study on ISSNHL treated with systemic steroids without full recovery on PTA (pure tone average) according to Siegel criteria.

Efficacy of intratympanic corticosteroid as a salvage treatment in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

Introduction: Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) is defined as an abrupt hearing loss of at least 30dB of unknown cause. The hearing response obtained after intratympanic steroid injection as a salvage treatment after a prior failure of initial systemic steroid treatment was analysed.

Material And Method: An observational study was performed on 125 cases of ISSHL who were diagnosed from 2006 to 2014.

Amplitude of Glottal Mucosal Wave After Vocal Fold Microflap With or Without Fibrin Glue.

Introduction: The vocal fold microflap technique is the ideal to remove benign vocal fold pathology. Our objective is to compare the amplitudes of the mucosal wave before and after the closure of microflap defect with fibrin glue, and when microflap is left to heal by secondary intention.

Materials And Methods: The present study is a retrospective series, including 32 patients treated by intracordal phonosurgery, with closure of the microflap either with fibrin glue or by healing by secondary intention.

Sudden hearing loss: National survey in Spain.

Introduction: The objective of our study was to identify the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in the different ENT Departments of Spain with respect to sudden deafness. We wanted to establish a basis to help to create a new nation-wide consensus, unifying treatment, diagnostic and follow-up criteria for this disease.

Methods: We carried out an anonymous Internet survey, addressing Spanish ENT doctors nation-wide (n=2,029), gathering in 33 questions different aspects about diagnostic criteria, additional tests, treatment procedures and prognostic factors in sudden deafness, according to the different protocols and experience of the participants in the survey.

The role of partial parotidectomy for benign parotid tumors: A case-control study.

Objective: To evaluate the results and complications after partial parotidectomy vs superficial parotidectomy, as primary treatment of benign parotid tumors.
