Article Synopsis
  • - The study explores how changing the conditions in a biotechnological process can lead to the production of new natural aromas, specifically focusing on converting limonene into limonene-1,2-diol using the fungus Pestalotiopsis mangiferae LaBMicrA-505 from the Brazilian Amazon.
  • - Researchers optimized conditions for this biotransformation in shake flasks, discovering that the best biomass yield came from cultures grown in a specific liquid medium for 72 hours.
  • - By applying a central composite design for modeling, they established optimal parameters (4 g/l biomass, 2% substrate, 24°C, 120 rpm, pH 6.0) that resulted in a significant production of lim

To investigate the biocatalytic potential of Amazonian actinomycetes for monoterpenes biotransformation. To carry out the present study, eleven actinomycetes of the genus isolated from inga-cipó ( Mart.) rhizospheres were tested for their ability to bioconvert the substrates -(+)-limonene, -(-)-limonene, 1-(-)-α-pinene, and (-)-β-pinene as sole carbon and energy source.
