Few studies have compared different systems in classifying Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) transcripts. In this study, the AAI was administered to 90 Italian parents (45 couples), and the AAI transcripts were independently classified according to Main, Goldwyn, and Hesse's (Berkeley) and Crittenden's (Dynamic-Maturational Model [DMM]) criteria. The two classification systems were not significantly associated, with some limited convergent results only when the interviews resulted in organized (Berkeley) and normative (DMM) attachment classifications.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how the severity of prematurity based on birth weight affects maternal stress and sensitivity, as well as infant development.
  • Researchers evaluated 68 mothers and their preterm babies alongside 66 full-term infants using various scales to measure maternal interaction and infant growth.
  • Results indicated that while maternal distress levels were similar across groups, higher maternal sensitivity and lower distress positively influenced development, particularly in infants with extremely-low and very-low birth weights.
