Background: One of the undesirable complications that might occur after breast augmentation with silicone implants is capsular contracture. In its etiology, the relations between mast cells and myofibroblasts play an important role in collagen synthesis. Mast cells are able to activate fibroblasts into myofibroblasts, through paracrine secretions, inducing collagen production.

Background: Nailfold capillaroscopy is a useful technique for evaluating changes in microcirculation.

Objective: To investigate changes at nailfold capillaroscopy in psoriatic patients compared with controls.

Methods: Nailfold capillaroscopy was performed in 46 psoriatic patients and 50 controls to assess microscopic morphological changes, capillary density and the presence of areas with devascularization.

Hair loss perception and symptoms of depression in female outpatients attending a general dermatology clinic.

Background: Hair loss is a common complaint among women and may be associated with psychological disturbances.

Objectives: This study investigated dermatology patients with respect to the prevalence of complaints of hair loss and the association between these complaints and symptoms of depression.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with female outpatients over 20 years of age with no hair-related disorders.

Pancreatic panniculitis as the first manifestation of visceral disease--case report.

Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare pathological condition affecting 2-3% of patients with pancreatic disease. In 40% of cases the condition precedes manifestations of pancreatic disease. We report the case of a 71-year-old female who presented with an erythematous tender node which had appeared one month previously, progressing to ulceration and yellowish exudation.
