Investigation of oral health findings and genotype correlations in osteogenesis imperfecta.

Osteogenesis imperfecta, a common genetic connective tissue disorder affecting bone with multisystemic implications, is caused by genomic alterations at various levels that disrupt the biosynthesis stages of collagen Type I. This study evaluated the intraoral and clinical findings of 43 OI cases in relation to genetic variants, aiming to contribute new insights into the roles of collagen and non-collagen genes in the oral-dental pathology of OI. Significant associations were found between OI variants and dental anomalies such as dentinogenesis imperfecta, enamel hypoplasia, taurodontism, and hypodontia.

Background: As calcium silicate-based cements (CSCs) have found success in various vital pulp therapy applications, several new CSC products have emerged. This study aimed to assess the genotoxicity, cytotoxicity, and bioactivity of four CSCs by comparing the newly introduced materials Bio MTA+ and MTA Cem with previously studied materials, Biodentine and NeoMTA.

Evaluation of the predictors of oral health-related quality of life among 3-5-year-old children with dental trauma.

This study evaluated the influence of socio-demographic, clinical, and parental psychological factors on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and determined their predictors in preschool-aged children with traumatic dental injury (TDI). The study sample consisted of 324 dyads of children and their parents attending the Clinics of Pediatric Dentistry at Istanbul University. Hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathies (HSAN) are rare genetic syndromes of unknown etiology. They are seen in early childhood and are categorized into six different types by their symptoms. HSAN type 4 demonstrates autosomal recessive transmission pattern, with such major characteristics as loss of sense of pain, self-mutilation, anhydrosis and mental retardation.
