Alumina-toughened zirconia nanocomposite: Aging effect on microstructural, optical, and mechanical properties.

Objectives: To process an alumina-toughened zirconia (ATZ) nanocomposite and to characterize its crystalline phases, microstructure, residual stress, mechanical and optical properties before and after two different artificial aging methodologies.

Methods: Disc-shaped specimens were obtained through uniaxial pressing of a commercial ATZ powder comprised of 80%ZrO / 20%AlO, with a particle size of 50 nm and 150 nm, respectively. Sintering was performed at 1500ºC for 2 h.

Single geometry abutment for narrow and extra-narrow implant systems: Survival and failure modes.

The use of identical prosthetic components for all implant diameters could reduce the production costs by companies and the complexity of component selection for the clinician and his team. The Brazilian validation of a health literacy instrument: the newest vital sign.

Objective: This study aimed to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the NVS for Brazilian Portuguese.

Material And Methods: Two hundred and fifty adults responded to the adapted version of the NVS, the Brazilian version of the Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Dentistry (BREALD-30), ten questions of the National Functional Literacy Index (NFLI), and a questionnaire about demographic and oral health-related aspects. Statistical analysis determined the internal consistency, stability, difficulty of items, and convergent/discriminant/predictive validities of the NVS.

The Brazilian version of the 20-item rapid estimate of adult literacy in medicine and dentistry.

Background: The misunderstanding of specific vocabulary may hamper the patient-health provider communication. The 20-item Rapid Estimate Adult Literacy in Medicine and Dentistry (REALMD-20) was constructed to screen patients by their ability in reading medical/dental terminologies in a simple and rapid way. This study aimed to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and validation of this instrument for its application in Brazilian dental patients.
