Histopathologic and Molecular Features of Cutaneous Melanoma in a Moroccan Population.

Background Cutaneous cancer is the most common malignancy type, among which melanomas are considered the most aggressive and lethal. In Morocco, skin melanoma is the 25th most common cancer. To our knowledge, this is the first and largest Moroccan study specifically describing cutaneous melanoma.

Primary Cutaneous Malignant Perivascular Epithelioïd Cell Tumor (PEComa): Case Report With Review of the Literature.

Perivascular epithelioïd cell tumor (PEComa) is a mesenchymal neoplasm with epithelioïd or spindled morphology with numerous thin-walled capillaries between tumor cells. They co-express markers of both melanocytic and smooth muscle differentiation. PEComas are rare, presenting in numerous anatomic sites including lung, kidney, liver, genitourinary tract, soft tissue, and skin.

Aseptic nonunion of the tibia treated by plating and bone grafting: retrospective study about 40 cases.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological results of the treatment of aseptic nonunion of the tibia by plating and bone grafting.

Material And Methods: This retrospective study included 40 patients with aseptic nonunion of the tibia, treated in the Trauma-Orthopedic department B4 of CHU Hassan II in Fez-Morocco. The average age was 41 years (range 25-60 years).

[Coverage in the management of loss of skin substances on the lower third of the leg: about 9 cases].

Coverage of loss of skin substances on the lower third of the leg is a challenging problem. This is due to adjacent soft tissues impairment, shortage of local vascularization and bone exposure. We conducted a retrospective study of a series of 9 cases of skin coverage of the lower third of the leg treated at the University Hospital Hassan II of Fez from 2016 to 2018.

Nonunion of Fractures of the Ulna and Radius Diaphyses: Clinical and Radiological Results of Surgical Treatment.

Aseptic nonunion of the radius and ulna is a major complication of forearm fractures, accounting for 2% to 10% of all forearm fractures. The aim of our study is to evaluate the functional and radiological results of surgical treatment of diaphyseal aseptic nonunion of the radius and ulna, with autologous bone grafting, decortication and internal plate fixation. A series of 21 patients (26 nonunions) was retrospectively reviewed, the average age was 35 years with a mean of 31,58 years (range 12-44 years).

[Glomus tumors of the hand: a retrospective study of 11 cases].

MASSON described glomus tumour as a benign neuromyoarterial proliferation. It represents approximately 1% -5% of all tumors of the hand. Pain is the main clinical sign.

Unusual combination of lesions of the traumatic hand: closed central slip laceration of the extensor and interphalangeal thumb joint's dislocation (a case report).

From the functional standpoint, the hand is one of the most important organs of the body. However, its significance depends largely upon the pincer action of the thumb-index. The management of traumatic lesions of the hand is nowadays' subject of numerous scientific discussions.

Fractures of the neck of the fifth metacarpal bone, treated by percutaneous intramedullary nailing: surgical technique, radiological and clinical results study (28 cases).

This study report the results in 28 patients affected by closed fractures of the neck of the fifth metacarpal bone (boxer's fracture), treated with percutaneous elastic intramedullary nailing using a single wire, to verify the effectiveness of this surgical treatment. We reviewed the results of 28 patients treated with A single Kirschner wire (K-wire) pre-bent in a lazy-S fashion with a mild bend at approximately 5 millimeters, The K-wire is inserted blunt end first in an antegrade manner and the fracture reduced as the wire is passed across the fracture site The wire is usually removed with pliers post-operatively at four weeks in the fracture clinic. The follow-up period averaged of 20,75 months.

The intramedullary nailing using a single knee incision for treatment of extraarticular floating knee (nine cases).

Context: Floating knee injuries are uncommon and complex injuries. Management of this injury has been variously described in the literature.

Aims: We present the outcome of the intramedullary nailing using a single knee incision for treatment of extraarticular floating knee.

An unusual cause of shoulder pain in an elderly woman: a case report.

Introduction: Stress fracture of the clavicle is a rare entity. It can manifest itself with an atypical shoulder pain. The clavicle is vulnerable to pathological fractures from several causes such as neoplasm, infection and rarely metabolic bone disease.

[Surgical treatment of acral melanoma: a report of eight cases].

Acral melanoma represents 3 to 15% of all cutaneous melanoma. In Morocco, this location is predominant. Through our study, we intend to analyze the therapeutic aspects of acral melanoma, while focusing on the epidemiological, clinical, pathological and prognostic profile of acral melanoma cases listed in osteoarticular surgery department of the CHU Hassan II of Fez in the period from January 2009 to December 2012.

[Surgical treatment of proximal humeral fractures anatomical plate versus palm tree pinning (26 cases)].

Background: The aim of this study is to compare functional and radiological results of two surgical techniques in treatment of proximal humeral fractures.

Patients And Methods: A prospective study was performed, which included 12 patients operated for a proximal humeral fracture by open reduction and internal fixation using an anatomical humeral plate, and another group of patient (14 patients) treated for the same lesion using a palm tree pinning technique of Kapandji. The comparison of results of the two techniques was based on three parameters: the time of healing, quality of reduction, and the functional result.

A shoulder-hand syndrome revealing a lung cancer.

Shoulder-hand syndrome is a reflex sympathetic dystrophy which is usually associated with minor trauma, fracture or surgical procedures on bones, or follows peripheral nerve injury. In the present report, we describe a patient who developed sympathetic dystrophy which revealed a lung cancer. Reflex sympathetic dystrophy, therefore, should be considered an occasional manifestation of a paraneoplastic syndrome warranting a thorough search for underlying malignancy.
