A Large Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma Mimicking an Angiomyolipoma on Pre-operative Imaging: A Case Report.

Retroperitoneal masses present a diagnostic challenge due to their elusive origin and varied clinical manifestations. Among these masses, retroperitoneal liposarcomas, rare tumors of mesenchymal origin, often grow asymptomatically until compressing surrounding structures, necessitating accurate and early diagnosis. Renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs) have also been reported to mimic retroperitoneal liposarcomas on radiographic imaging, further complicating diagnostic processes.

Use of phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors and the incidence of melanoma.

Introduction: Recent evidence of a causal link between Phosphodiesterase-5-inhibitor (PDE-5i) use and melanoma has caused concern in PDE-5i use and was even addressed in the 2018 American Urological Association guideline on erectile dysfunction (ED). Given that several studies have affirmed this low probability but statistically significant association, one might expect a shift in melanoma diagnoses since PDE-5is were introduced in 1998. We sought to determine if the introduction of PDE-5i drugs for ED treatment increased incidence of melanoma.

Moving away from mannitol infusion for partial nephrectomy: has this altered renal function?

In recent years, research has questioned the theorized renal-protective value of mannitol infusion during partial nephrectomy. This study considers whether the cessation of routine mannitol administration has shown any benefit or detriment to patients in the contemporary era. We retrospectively reviewed a multi-institution database for an association between mannitol administration and subsequent renal function during follow-up.

A Case Report of Large Bowel Obstruction in a Patient With an Inflatable Penile Prosthesis.

Introduction: Inflatable penile prostheses (IPP) consist of 2 cylinders implanted into the corpora cavernosa, a pump placed in the scrotum, and a saline-filled reservoir traditionally placed in the space of Retzius. IPPs are used to treat refractory erectile dysfunction with few rare, but serious, complications. Cases of reservoirs causing erosion into the bladder, small bowel obstructions, vascular compression, and inguinal herniation have been described.

A Comparison Between AMS 700 and Coloplast Titan: A Systematic Literature Review.

There are only two three-piece inflatable penile prostheses (IPP) available to patients in the American market: the AMS (American Medical Systems) 700 series (Boston Scientific, Massachusetts) and the Coloplast Titan® series (Coloplast, Minnesota), and data comparing the two are scant. The aim of our study was to summarize the current scientific evidence comparing the two. A systematic literature review was conducted on PubMed.

The Association Between Race and 5-year Survival in Patients With Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Cohort Study.

Objective: To determine if race was associated with 5-year cause-specific survival in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Materials And Methods: Outcomes were investigated using the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results database with data from 13 states between the years 2007-2015. Covariates included age, sex, insurance, marital status, and tumor stage at diagnosis.

Practice Longer and Stronger: Maximizing the Physical Well-Being of Surgical Residents with Targeted Ergonomics Training.

Objective: Pain and disability among surgeons can lead to practice restrictions, early retirement, and physician burnout. This project sought to address the physical well-being of surgical residents by teaching ergonomic principles, a "microbreaks" model, and stretching exercises aimed at targeting the four anatomical areas identified as most problematic for surgeons.

Design: Three modules, led by physical therapists, were presented to surgical residents over the course of the 2018-2019 academic year.
