Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an acute virus infection, which was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. The Swiss government decreed a public lockdown to reduce and restrict further infections. The aim of this investigation was to analyze the impact of the first COVID-19 lockdown on the performance of general and visceral surgery procedures.

Objectives: Pneumatosis intestinalis is a rare condition with subserosal or submucosal gas-filled cysts of the gastrointestinal tract. It is often associated with acute mesenteric ischemia, but also non-ischemic causes are described.

Case Presentation: A 27-year-old male patient with severe congenital spastic tetraparesis presented to the emergency room with fever and reduced general condition.
