Purpose: To assess the ability of the 5-item frailty index (5-IFi) score to predict 30-day morbidity and mortality post-radical nephrectomy (RN).

Methods: ACS-NSQIP database was used to select patients who underwent RN from 2011 to 2020. 5-IFi score was calculated by assigning a point for each of the following comorbidities: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or pneumonia, congestive heart failure, dependent functional status, hypertension, and diabetes.

Background: In January 2019, a new device called the Amplatzer Piccolo Occluder was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for percutaneous closure of patent ductus arteriosus in infants weighing more than 700 g and of postnatal age more than 3 days. Premature low-weight infants are predisposed to hypothermia when transported outside of the thermo-neutral environment. At our institution, 90% of extremely preterm low-weight infants developed transient moderate hypothermia in the cardiac catheterisation suite.

BACKGROUND Amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis can be refractory to medical treatment seldom requiring surgical intervention. Herewith, we present the first case to date of amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis in a congenital heart disease post-Senning procedure requiring emergent surgical management. CASE REPORT A 19-year-old-male patient with a history of a complex congenital heart disease developed severe pulmonary baffle stenosis and atrial fibrillation that was medically treated with amiodarone, upon which he developed.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) is seldom seen nowadays due to the aggressive treatment of upper urinary tract infections as well as recent advances in the management of urolithiasis. It has been rarely reported in the peri-partum period. We present a case of XGP without any evidence of renal calculi, manifesting in a 26-year-old previously healthy woman immediately post-partum.
