Relational and functional aspects of safety for patients and caregivers in intensive care: scoping review.

Objective: To analyze the relational and functional aspects of patient safety through the experiences reported by the patients themselves and/or their caregivers in intensive care units.

Method: Scoping review developed with searches, in September 2021 and updated in November 2022, in the following databases: Virtual Health Library, considering only the LILACS, BDENF, IBECS, ColecionaSUS databases; SCIELO, PsycINFO, EMBASE, COCHRANE, CINAHL, SCOPUS and Web of Science.

Results: The final selection included 14 articles highlighting communication as an essential relational factor for care safety.

Correlation between low handgrip strength and metabolic syndrome in older adults: a systematic review.

Muscle weakness has been associated to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome in the general population. However, it is still unclear whether this association is maintained in older adults. This study investigated correlations between low handgrip strength (HGS) and metabolic syndrome, or some of its components, in older adults through a systematic review of the literature.

Handling errors in conventional and smart pump infusions: A systematic review with meta-analysis.

Objective: To identify the scientific evidence on the frequency of handling errors of conventional and smart pump infusions in intravenous insulin therapy in intensive care units.

Method: A systematic review with meta-analysis conducted in the Virtual Health Library, MEDLINE via PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases. Articles were assessed regarding the level of evidence by applying the Oxford Center for Evidence-Based Medicine Evidence Scale.

Machine perfusion versus cold storage in renal preservation of deceased donors with brain death: systematic review and meta-analysis.

With the increasing use of machine perfusion in kidney transplantation, it has been observed that dynamic ischemia correlates with the improvement of organ preservation. In this context, we performed a systematic review that aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the portable machine perfusion (LifePort Kidney Transporter Machine®), used in Brazil, compared to cold storage, regarding the delayed graft function of deceased donors with brain death. Literature search was carried out in LILACS, MEDLINE via PubMed, Scopus, Clarivate Analytics, Cochrane Library, Embase, and SciELO, as well as in Google Scholar manually.
