Insertion of central vascular catheter: adherence to infection prevention bundle.

Objective: To evaluate the compliance of the care process involving insertion of central vascular catheter (CVC) in hemodialysis.

Method: Cross-sectional quantitative approach developed at the hemodialysis service of a reference hospital in Sergipe, Brazil. Sample consisting of 1,342 actions evaluated, corresponding to 122 forms for monitoring and control of CVC insertion.

Patient safety in nursing care during medication administration.

Objective: to evaluate the conformity of care practices of the nursing team during the administration of drugs through central vascular catheter.

Method: a descriptive, prospective, observational study conducted in an Intensive Care Unit. The non-probabilistic intentional sample consisted of 3402 observations of drug administrations in patients with central vascular catheters.

Depressive symptoms in patients with coronary artery disease.

Objective: To assess the presence of depressive symptoms in patients with coronary artery disease in the preoperative period for coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil.

Methods: A cross-sectional study with 63 hospitalized patients prior to CABG. Two instruments were used for data collection; one for the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics, and the other to evaluate the presence of depressive symptoms, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).

Safe patient care in the preparation and administration of medicines.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the compliance with the assistance and the adhesion of nursing professionals for the safe administration of drugs in an Intensive Care Unit of a public hospital in Sergipe, Brazil. METHOD Quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study carried out by direct non-participant observation. Data collection performed in 2015.

[Nurses leadership evaluation by nursing aides and technicians according to the 360-degree feedback method].

Objective: to assess the leadership of nurses of a maternity hospital according to the nursing aides and technicians and the 360-degree feedback method.

Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The population was 19 nurses and 96 nursing aides and assistants.

[Occupational stressors among nurses working in urgent and emergency care units].

The study aimed to assess occupational stressors among nurses working in urgent and emergency care facilities. It is a descriptive research developed in two public hospitals of different complexity degrees, with 49 nurses. Data were collected from June to September 2011.

Conceptual reflections about organizational and professional commitment in the health sector.

In the daily exercise of their functions, health professionals face a duality of systems, that is, the professional system and the organizational system, each of which has its own distinct values, principles and expectations. The authors aim to present organizational and professional commitment concepts and their relations in the context of the health sector. They consider that organizational and professional commitment are not incompatible, but can be reconciled in the organizational dynamics, and alert about the development of affective commitment in workers, due to the positive consequences for the organization and the profession.
