The work here studies the communication cost for a multi-server multi-task distributed computation framework, as well as for a broad class of functions and data statistics. Considering the framework where a user seeks the computation of multiple complex (conceivably non-linear) tasks from a set of distributed servers, we establish the communication cost upper bounds for a variety of data statistics, function classes, and data placements across the servers. To do so, we proceed to apply, for the first time here, Körner's characteristic graph approach-which is known to capture the structural properties of data and functions-to the promising framework of multi-server multi-task distributed computing.

Background: Symbiotic nitrogen fixation differs among Bradyrhizobium japonicum strains. Soybean inoculated with USDA123 has a lower yield than strains known to have high nitrogen fixation efficiency, such as USDA110. N-Substituted 7-aminocoumarins can be synthesized from readily available 7-hydroxycoumarins via alkylation with α-bromoacetamides and subsequent tandem O → N Smiles rearrangement-amide hydrolysis. The key rearrangement sequence proceeds under mild conditions to provide convenient access to various -alkyl and -aryl products in moderate to high yields. The process is operationally simple, inexpensive, transition-metal-free, and can be telescoped into a one-pot process.

Collections of micro-organisms are a crucial element of life science research infrastructure but are vulnerable to loss and damage caused by natural or man-made disasters, the untimely death or retirement of personnel, or the loss of research funding. We have estimated the average genetic diversity of two annual and six perennial species based upon 76 orthologous gene sets and performed phylogenetic analysis, divergence analysis and tests for departure from neutrality of the eight species using 52 orthologous gene sets. In addition, 367 orthologous gene sets were used to estimate the relationships of 11 accessions. Among the perennials, showed the highest nucleotide diversity.
