: Thyroid nodules are a very common finding, mostly benign but sometimes malignant, and thus require accurate diagnosis. Ultrasound and fine needle biopsy are the most widely used and reliable diagnostic methods to date, but they are sometimes limited in addressing benign from malignant nodules, mainly with regard to ultrasound, by the operator's experience. Radiomics, quantitative feature extraction from medical images and machine learning offer promising avenues to improve diagnosis.

The Squat Jump (SJ) test is widely recognized as a reliable test for assessing lower-limb explosive strength. However, uncertainty persists in the literature regarding the optimal starting positions for maximizing vertical jump performance. This uncertainty is exacerbated by a disproportionate focus on athletes in existing studies, with insufficient consideration being given to non-athletic women.

Commercial purity titanium (cp-Ti) is considered for replacing Ti64 as an implant material in various applications, due to the potential toxicity associated with the release of Al and V ions. However, the mechanical properties of cp-Ti, particularly fatigue resistance, are inadequate for this purpose. In this study, cp-Ti grade 4 rods were processed using a combination of equal channel angular pressing and rotary swaging (ECAP/RS).

Death from positional asphyxia is often an accidental event occurring when the victim's body assumes a position which can compromise an effective respiration. Its diagnosis is usually not simple, because it needs to know the exact circumstance in which the body was found and the original positioning of all the body segments. In this case, a 41-year-old man with a history of opioid drugs abuse was found dead in a knee-chest position; the head was down on the floor with the face resting on a plastic bag.

There is a strong correlation between SARS-CoV-2 and the onset of autoimmune neurological disease with atypical clinical presentation, characterized by limited response to medical therapy, likely caused by the underlying mechanism of the virus itself. In situations like these, after the failure of pharmacological therapy, therapeutic apheresis, including immunoadsorption, can be pursued. Treatments with IMMUSORBA TR-350 columns have proven to be particularly effective in managing refractory forms of post-Covid-19 nephropathies, leading to complete recovery of disability and elimination of neurological signs and symptoms.

The concomitant presence of Castleman disease (CD) with other hematological pathology is an event described in the literature with increasing frequency, able to modify the diagnostic and curative approach in such patients. Very few studies in the literature describe the association of CD with concomitant neoplastic diseases; the most frequent are Kaposi's sarcomas (especially in HIV and human herpes virus-8-positive patients) and lymphoproliferative disorders, such as lymphomas. Instead, since the association with plasma cell diseases such as multiple myeloma and plasmacytoma is infrequent, there is a lack of literature.

The highly conserved endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein translocation channel contains one nonessential subunit, Sec61β/Sbh1, whose function is poorly understood so far. Its intrinsically unstructured cytosolic domain makes transient contact with ER-targeting sequences in the cytosolic channel vestibule and contains multiple phosphorylation sites suggesting a potential for regulating ER protein import. In a microscopic screen, we show that 12% of a GFP-tagged secretory protein library depends on Sbh1 for translocation into the ER.

In Italy, recent amendments to Legislative Decree n. 36 of 28 February 2021, on sports work, may have made the application of the reform by stakeholders unclear, with the risk of generating further confusion among them. One of the most critical points concerns the possible equivalencies to the professional profile of the kinesiologist, which would be illegitimately recognized even for a different level of education, contrary to the requirements of the European qualification framework.
