We compared the diagnostic yield and specimen adequacy in EUS-guided parenchymal biopsies between two types of EUS 19 G core needles. Influence of race and sex on prevalence and recurrence of colon polyps.

Background: African Americans (AAs) have a higher incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) and present with more advanced disease compared with whites. An increased prevalence of polyps has also been noted in men regardless of race. We sought to validate these observations and assess whether the increase in CRC in AAs is owing to polyp prevalence or incidence differences vs other factors.

Spontaneous renal artery thrombosis and common iliac artery dissection in a previously healthy young adult.

A previously healthy 20-year-old male with a history of easy bruising presented to the emergency department complaining of intermittent left lower quadrant abdominal pain for one week. He was diagnosed with vascular (type IV) Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and attendant defects in type III collagen leading to spontaneous left renal artery thrombosis and common iliac artery dissection. Treatment was conservative.
