Introduction: To determine whether the two popular artificial intelligence chatbots, ChatGPT and Bard, can provide high-quality information concerning procedure description, risks, benefits, and alternatives of various ophthalmic surgeries.
Methods: ChatGPT and Bard were prompted with questions pertaining to the description, potential risks, benefits, alternatives, and implications of not proceeding with various surgeries in different subspecialties of ophthalmology. Six common ophthalmic procedures were included in the authors' analysis.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess long-term stability and outcomes of femtosecond astigmatic keratotomy (FSAK) after treatment of high postkeratoplasty astigmatism.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients who underwent FSAK for high astigmatism (≥4 D) after penetrating keratoplasty or deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty. Main outcome measures were corneal astigmatism, uncorrected visual acuity, and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at 1 month and 1, 5, and 10 years.
Neuro-Behçe disease (NBD) has a predilection for affecting the parenchyma of the upper brainstem; however, involvement of the fourth nerve nucleus or fascicle by NBD has not been previously described. We report a case of a young man with acute right fourth nerve palsy and history of Behçet disease with an enhancing lesion in the left caudal midbrain corresponding to the left trochlear nerve nucleus/fascicle. This is the first described case of NBD producing nuclear/fascicular fourth nerve palsy.
