Methylene blue treatment for resistant shock following renal transplantation.

We report a case of a 19-year-old female with a history of hyperoxaluria type 1 and renal failure. The patient presented for a second renal transplantation 17 years after her first combined liver and kidney transplantation. Postoperative shock was highly resistant to fluids and required massive pharmacologic hemodynamic support.

Life threatening medullary injury following adenoidectomy and local anesthetic infiltration of the operative bed.

Extrapyramidal parkinsonism complicating acute organophosphate insecticide poisoning.

The aim of this study is to report our experience with a child who developed extrapyramidal perturbations complicating acute organophosphate insecticides poisoning and to review the literature reporting on basal ganglia impairment associated with this poisoning. Our patient had developed overt parkinsonism presenting with a resting tremor, expressionless face, and lack of blinking along with marked cogwheel rigidity and a stooped, slow gait. He was alert, coherent, and cooperative, yet agitated.

Management of children undergoing painful procedures in the emergency department by non-anesthesiologists.

The treatment of acute pain and anxiety in children undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in the emergency department has improved dramatically in recent years. The availability of non-invasive monitoring devices and the use of short-acting sedative and analgesic medications enable physicians to conduct safe and effective sedation and analgesia treatment. In today's practice of pediatric emergency medicine, sedation and analgesia has been considered as the standard of care for procedural pain.
