During pregnancy, the immune responses are modulated to protect mothers and infants from different pathogens. Cathelicidin as an antimicrobial peptide has a defending role against many pathogens. In this study, to better understand the role of cathelicidin peptide and three of its related proteins in immune pathways (ERK, MyD88, and TLR-9) in the immune system during pregnancy, we examined their expression in the blood of non-pregnant and pregnant mothers and their infant's cord blood.
