The purpose of this study was to compare the short-term operative outcomes of three different surgical techniques for uterine incision closure during caesarean section (CS). This trial enrolled 120 patients scheduled for primary caesarean delivery. Patients were randomised into either classical double-layer uterine closure, purse-string double-layer uterine closure (Turan), or our new approach of uterine closure (double layer step up-step down technique).

Surgical scalpels are traditionally used for skin incisions during a Caesarean delivery; the great evolutions in electrosurgical devices bring an alternative method for skin incision by the usage of cutting diathermy. This was a prospective randomised comparative study conducted during the period from March 2016 to February 2017 on 200 patients, 100 patients had skin incisions using the surgical scalpel, while 100 patients had skin incisions with a diathermy, in order to judge the variations in the postoperative pain, the incision time, the incision blood loss, the operative time, the wound healing and the wound complications. We observed a significant difference between the two groups regarding the incision time (p < .

Germline mutations in BRCA genes have been shown to predispose patients to breast cancer. Studies have suggested that p53 alteration is a necessary step in tumorigenesis in BRCA carriers. Our previous study showed p53 alteration in morphologically normal/benign breast luminal cells in sporadic breast cancer patients, the so-called breast p53 signature.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection with severe pre-eclampsia (PE) complicated by intrauterine growth restriction using rapid stool antigen test in a rural area in Egypt. Maternal stool samples were collected from 50 pregnant women diagnosed with PE-associated intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and from 50 women with healthy pregnancies (control) between 34 and 38 weeks of gestation. HP stool antigen (HPSA) was measured using a monoclonal antibody test, which is an immuno-chromatographic assay that uses antibody-coated colloidal gold.

This case report describes the presence of a radiopaque artifact appearing in multiple intraoral periapical and bitewing radiographs during routine periodontal maintenance, in an edentulous area with a history of a ridge preservation procedure. Clinical examination of the area showed a normal soft tissue appearance. Upon further investigation of the patient's recent past medical history, it was found that the artifact was due to the presence of a dermal filler (Radiesse--Merz Aesthetics, San Mateo, CA), which remained after a facial cosmetic procedure.

The placental alkaline phosphatase (PAP) activity progressively rises as pregnancy advances, possibly, because of its increasing synthesis by placental tissue. The present study examined the relationship between placental alkaline phosphatase activity and the biochemical indices of foetal nutrition (cord blood glucose, albumin) and growth (neonatal birth weight). Placental and umbilical cord blood samples were collected from 56 term deliveries 30 of them were appropriate for gestational age (AGA) and 26 were small for gestational age(SGA) and prepared for placental alkaline phosphatase assay, glucose and albumin estimations using standard procedures.
