Esophageal atresia (EA) repair can be complicated by associated malformations such as a tracheobronchial remnant in the distal esophagus. We describe our experience with a patient found to have long-gap EA with a distal cartilaginous ring who was managed using a combination of esophageal lengthening and magnetic compression anastomosis. A 5-month-old girl was referred to us from an outside hospital with type C EA including a very high upper pouch.

Barbed sutures prevent the suture from slipping back after approximation of the tissues. Although introduced almost 2 decades ago, barbed sutures have not been widely used for CDH repair.

Emerging technologies such as three-dimensional (3D) cell culture and the generation of biological matrices offer exciting new possibilities in disease modelling and tumour therapy. The paucity of laboratory models for hepatoblastoma (HB), the most prevalent malignant liver tumour in children, has hampered the identification of new treatment options for HB patients. We aimed to establish a reliable 3D testing platform using liver-derived scaffolds and HB cell lines that reflect the heterogeneous biology of the disease so as to allow reproducible preclinical research and drug testing.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed pediatric Crohn's disease patients who underwent ileocecal resection in our center.
Introduction: Omphalocele represents a rare congenital abdominal wall defect. In giant omphalocele, due to the viscero-abdominal disproportion, gradual reintegration of eviscerated organs is often associated with medical challenges. We report our preliminary experience combining staged gravitational reduction with vacuum (VAC) therapy as a novel approach for treatment of giant omphalocele.

Experimental models to evaluate this process in its biological complexity are limited. To shed light on EMT impact and test drug response more reliably, we use a lung tumor test system based on a decellularized intestinal matrix showing more in vivo-like proliferation levels and enhanced expression of clinical markers and carcinogenesis-related genes.
