Existing failure criteria for orthotropic materials are subject to an underlying assumption which cause contradictions when applied to genuinely orthotropic materials that are significantly anisotropic in elasticity as well as in strengths. For such materials, there is lack of consistent failure criteria to support their applications in engineering structures. A general quadratic failure criterion tends to leave undetermined coefficients for interactive terms.

We present an extensive, large-scale, long-term and multitaxon database on phenological and climatic variation, involving 506,186 observation dates acquired in 471 localities in Russian Federation, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. The data cover the period 1890-2018, with 96% of the data being from 1960 onwards. The database is rich in plants, birds and climatic events, but also includes insects, amphibians, reptiles and fungi.
